Driffield Gala 2025

The tranquil waters of  historic Driffield Navigation will be alive to
the sound of music at an event to celebrate the waterway, which put the
town on the map.

Music will be an important part of a free one-day Driffield Canal
Festival on Sunday, June 29, which will help to raise funds for the
upkeep of the 250-year-old navigation.

Driffield Navigation Trust is organising the event at picturesque
Riverhead, in the town, which played a major role in the development of
the historic market town.

Making a welcome return and by popular demand to the festival stage will
be Kenny J, ‘The One & Only Elvis Presley’, who was unavailable for the
festival last year.

Other entertainers lined-up for the event are Charlene, an exciting
Diana Ross tribute act, and The Sonics Rock & Roll Band who rocked
festival revllers last year.

A trust spokesman said:  “Our festival has proved to be popular with
residents and visitors alike, so we decided to organise another this
year.  There will be improvements to make it a bigger and better event.

“Everybody loves the music, so we have lined up some excellent
entertainers, as well as the usual water-based activities, and also a
bar and refreshments.

“Last year many people expressed disappointment that Elvis impersonator
Kenny J was unable to attended, so we are delighted to announce he will
be back this year.

“The trust is keen for people to get involved with the canal by coming
along to the festival, for which there is no charge, to see what is
going on and have some fun and games.”

Duck Race 2022

This year the trust is organising a mini-market with stalls for people
to enjoy, as well as a licensed bar, a barbecue, coffee and tea van, and
an ice cream stall.

Water-based activities will include pedalos, boat trips to Town Lock and
back, and a duck race with cash prizes. There will also be children’s
entertainment, like a bouncy Disco Dome.

Driffield Navigation Trust is a charity that relies on fundraising and
donations, and every penny it makes at the festival will be spent on
maintenance and improvements.

The event will start at 11am and run until 8pm.
